SUMMER

It's June now which means summer is officially here. i love summer. i love the way everything feels different and nothing seems impossible. everything is okay and it's all going to be fine even if exam results day is getting closer. i always thought my favourite season was winter because i love the frosty chill and my birthday is in december but nothing feels quite like summer does. as school draws to a close and the sun seems to be in the sky all the time i think i should share with you some things that have got me feeling a certain type of way. the feeling on the last day of school before the holidays or the feeling of sitting outside at 10pm, sun still in the sky, soft breeze through your hair, the feeling when you look cute in your new bikini or when you can hear kids playing out side or walking on dewy grass in the morning and knowing you have nothing but spare time for weeks on end. that feeling:

these pictures give me the vibe of summer in the suburbs. when theres nothing to do but ride your bike, drink slushies and watch the sunset on someones roof.

as for fashion i never really know what to say, not only because i don't really know enough about fashion to write with confidence, but because summer style varies so much yet each year comes back to 'staples' whatever the trends may be. This year there has been a lot of sporty, tennis style tees and skirts which i love. also simple monochrome lines and shapes which i like too. also caps, bucket hats, jelly sandals, high waisted everything, boyfriend jeans, crop tops, big sunglasses and pretty much every 90's trend you could think of are back and i cant deny, i love it all.
these are some pics that have been floating around my inspiration folder:

i really love being able to put something on that will be comfortable all day in summer especially if im running around and will be out of the house for a long time. i think thats why we get drawn back to sporty shorts and tees and baggy jeans or overalls and chunky flats and im really glad we do. i feel like i take summer style inspiration from lots of places; from spring breakers to serena williams to gummo to tumblr.

here are some tunes that have got me dreaming of the holidays:

i'm going to use this blog as a place to put my favourite artwork as well as my writing. I post all of my art onto my tumblr but this feels like a more 'professional', organized place to put my pieces i'm most proud of.

May Favourites 2014

i'm back! i had exams and therefore no time to think about blogging but now they're over i will try and post more.

Here are some May favourites:

1. All The Things We Used To Do by Fox Atticus Martindale and Anna Collins

this song is the may theme song for online teen mag rookie and i cant stop listening!

2. Clothes

i'm totally in love with these 3 summer pieces. they are all super simple and cute and i love how all together they make a sweet outfit. the topshop crop top is only £8 and is super soft and kind of transparent which i love for summer when wearing a bikini top. the american apparel shorts are more expensive but the pattern is amazing and and i love high waists. the green monki bra is such a nice comfy shape and has a pair of pants to match.

3. Palo Alto Soundtrack

This is the soundtrack from Gia Coppola's debut film Palo Alto starring Jack Kilmer, Emma Roberts and James Franco. I love how chilled out it is. It's definitely going to be my summer playlist of  choice.

4. Favourite Blogs -

I'll be posting again soon, stick around!

springtime vibes

i like spring because it's still cold and frosty but with SUN. i feel more motivated and excited in springtime than i do at new year, i think it's because the first few months of the year are always so dull and gross. Anyway, over the past few days i've been thinking of spring and feeling pretty ~inspired~ style and art wise. I really like the pastels mixed with dark colours and masculine shapes / sportswear that seems to be in trend this season. here are some things that are giving me spring vibez:

beyoncé the great and powerful (review)

When Beyoncé's latest album dropped i was asked to review it for a magazine that was supposed to be up and running by now but sadly isn't. SO i guess i'll just post the review here -

On the 13th of December 2013 Beyoncé dropped her 5th solo album and first visual album with no promotion or warning. After 2 years without releasing a set of songs she came back with a bang. In the past 2 years she has become a mother to her daughter Blue Ivy and performed on her biggest tour yet The Mrs Carter Show World Tour. She also created one of biggest selling albums of 2013 that broke records and made iTunes crash across the world. The self-titled visual album is a masterpiece, it’s dark and complex. Each song flows graciously into the next, focusing on three main themes: family, sex and feminism. Songs like Pretty Hurts and ***Flawless are very different but are equally empowering, touching on serious topics, like body image, bulimia and equality, that pop music usually ignores. Blow, Rocket, Partition and Drunk in Love aren’t subtle songs about Beyoncé’s and Jay-Z’s love they are explicit and sexual and sort of feel like you’re intruding on their relationship yet remain perfectly catchy. Ghost, Heaven and Jealous are powerful but are not like the love ballads we’re used to. Simply listening to this album is an experience but watching the 17 videos adds something much more special. I love each song and video on this album for a different reason. Beyoncé makes it clear she was never sitting around; she was working in the shadows waiting to blow everyone away. There is no denying this is one of the best albums of last year. Some songs are stronger than others but each one represents a piece of Beyoncé and the empire she’s built up over the past 16 years perfectly.

its just a short kind of badly written review but oh my its been 3 months and a day doesn't go by with out me crying out 'I WOKE UP LIKE DIS, I WOKE UP LIKE DIS, GODAMN GODAMN'
